CHAPELJAZZ - The weekend after Mothers day in May each year. It has been suspended since 2020  due to COVID 19

In 1988 some local Morpeth businesses joined together to establish a small jazz festival for the bicentenary year. The jazz festival soon acquired a life of its own and by 2000 had developed into a major event. By 2004 it had become too difficult logistically and the crippling costs of insurance made such a street festival unmanageable and the event closed.

 What is ChapelJazz?

In 2009, the Catholic, Anglican and Uniting churches joined together to present ChapelJazz and bring traditional jazz back to Morpeth. Most of the music is played at the churches and their surrounding grounds.

 Why?

The aim of ChapelJazz is to present traditional jazz in a welcoming environment to jazz lovers and their families and provide an enjoyable community experience.

 What Does it Cost?

Everything is FREE except the Friday night dinner dance.

However, we do need to cover our costs and so we are sincerely grateful to our sponsors and members of the Morpeth Business Association. Please patronise Morpeth businesses and help to keep this a free event by buying raffle tickets, tea, coffee and refreshments at the venues and the Morpeth area.
