In the seventies, Carols at Closebourne were a feature of the Christmas season when St John's Theological College was a major part of the population of Morpeth. With the ultimate relocation of the theological college to Charles Sturt University and sale of the land for a retirement village. With the opening of the new Closebourne Village came an opportunity for the three churches of Morpeth to revive this old Morpeth tradition in a new setting with the cooperation of Lend Lease. We now have the Maitland City choir leading the singing, accompanied by the Maitland City Band with contributions from local school choirs. The Closebourne residents' choir also provides seasonal music.
