Morpeth is a historical village that was first established after Lieutenant Close vowed to build a church when engaged in the Napoleonic Wars. That church still stands as St James' Anglican Church. We have strong ecumenical links with the local Anglican and Catholic churches.
Morpeth was for a brief period the main port north of Hawkesbury in the period between sail and the advent of large steamships that could not navigate up the Hunter River. It was also the birthplace of Brambles, Sims Metal and Washington Soul Patterson.
We are living in difficult times and it is important to reach out not only to our community but to each other. . CLICK HERE for more information
